First, check safety
Is the person struggling to breathe, turning blue/grey, difficult to wake, or having pauses in breathing? Get emergency help now; do not make recordings. Use your local emergency number (112 in the EU).

What a clinician may check
Tell the clinician the exact age, duration, temperature, breathing effort, drinking/feeding, medicines, allergies and any blood in sputum. They may check breathing rate, oxygen with a suitable device, and listen with a stethoscope.
Chest X-ray, spirometry or sputum testing may be appropriate for specific findings or persistent cough. They are not required for every cough. Children with bronchiolitis do not routinely need chest X-rays. Only a clinician chooses the tests; a phone cannot rule out pneumonia or measure oxygen.
